Recently, we have been learning a lot about how to give and receive feedback. I admit, I'm not very good at it, but, in this post, I'm trying to accept feedback and learn from it. The post I will like you to read and comment is:

Fun with Stereotypes

"Fun with Stereotypes" is one of my personal favorites. I will love if you could tell me what you think about it, if you agree with me or not, and to focus on its content. Also if you have a comment about my blog or another one of my posts feel free to share it with me:) Enjoy!

As we grow up, there are certain songs that remind us of a special moment in our life. Memories of a moment come back to us just by hearing a song. Those songs, my time-travelers, are the ones that I'm gonna share with you. Each song remind me of someone really special, or a moment in my life. Enjoy!

1- Chiquitita by Abba: This song remind of an easier time. When I had like 3 or 4 years my mom used to sing this at the top of her lungs during car rides.
"Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong,
You're enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this."

2- La Copa de la Vida by Ricky Martin: I don't know if every girl took ballet lessons when we were little girls, but I'm pretty sure most of us did. La Copa de la Vida reminds me of my first dance on a stage, when I was 3 years old.

3- I'm Blue by Eiffel 65: This song was so much fun!! When I was a little girl, approximately 5-8 years old, I remembered that my school, each Friday morning, played some songs for us to sing and dance, and this one was one of them. That was truly fun and exciting.

4- Los Peces en el Rio by Garibaldi: A CHRISTMAS CAROL! Garibaldi was a Mexican group who had a Christmas cassette. That cassette was a classic for every Christmas. My sister, cousin and I used to sing so loud that you couldn't hear the radio anymore. Needless to say, we always were singing it slightly different, from the original. Usually, different rythm and sometimes different lyrics.
"La Virgen se está peinando
Entre cortina y cortina
Los cabellos son de oro
Y el peine de plata fina

Pero mira como beben
los peces en el río
Pero mira como beben
por ver a Dios nacío"

5- Asereje by Las Ketchup: I bet each girl of Puerto Rico at least one time danced to this song. When I changed school, one of my first memories of my new school is from this song. There was a long bench on the cafeteria, where we had our recess. One day, we were all eating, and out of nowhere the song came on. Each girl stood up on the bench and just began to dance the famous Asereje dance, me included, I might add. It was really amazing that every girl in the entire school knew this dance.
"Aserejé ja de je
de jebe tu de jebere
seibiunouva majavi
an de bugui an de güididípi"

I'm gonna skip some of my teen years because the songs that can describe them are not educational material.

6. En el Muelle de San Blas by Mana: This song is amazing. It reminds me of my two best friends during High School. When we began to hang out together, we used to sing this song really loud during free time in classes. Later on, we went to the concert and it was fantabolous.

Sola,
Sola en el olvido.
Sola,
Sola con su espíritu.
Sola,
Sola con su amor el mar.
Sola...
En el muelle de San Blas.

7- Dancing Queen by Abba: This songs reminds me literally of my 17th birthday. During that time, it was cool to party on La Placita de Santurce, and I celebrated my birthday there with my girl friends. They made me sing Dancing Queen in a karaoke in front of a lot of people. That night was incredibly awesome, and this song will be one of my favorites no matter my age.
"You are the Dancing Queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen
Feel the beet from the tambourine
You can dance, you can dance
Having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene
Dig in the Dancing Queen"

8- El Wanabi by Fiel a la Vega: This was my 2010 class song. Needless to say every time I hear it, a thousand memories pop  into my head. I absolutely love this song plus the lyric is very motivational and pretty :)
Dame un momento pa'probar
de que estoy echo, je, je, je
Soy el que va cuesta arriba
soy el que va al asecho je, je, je...

Quizás, algún día comprenda
lo que importa de verdad,
quizá lo que importa en esta vida
es algo que no tiene que ver
con las cosas que persigo
con todo aquello que soñe,

9- S&M by Rihanna: The lyric from this song does not fit perfectly into my life but it reminds me of some awesome party nights. One night, my best friend and I were hanging out in San Juan, with a little bit of alcohol in our bodies, I might add, and this song suddenly began. We began to dance and sing a lot. Since that day, every time we hear the song on the radio, we sing and dance like maniacs, you know cause it's so much fun!!
Feels so good
Being bad
There's no way
I'm turning back
The pain is my pleasure
Cause nothing could measure

10- Theme song of Friends: The summer before beginning college, one of my bff showed me for the first time the TV series Friends. I saw the ten seasons in just one week and fell completely in love with it. This song makes me completely happy just by hearing its first 5 seconds.
So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year, but

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)

11- Yo lo soñe by Abba: This is a translation from the original song "I believe in Angels", also by Abba. When I began in college, I had a difficult time adjusting. Honestly, I cried a lot during that time, and my mom always made me sang this song to calm myself and to believe that everything will eventually fall into its place. The magic of this song was, and still is, that it accomplished its purpose. It makes me hopeful and relax.
Creo en angelitos
que me cuidan siempre de caer
creo en angelitos
que la vida linda me hacen ver
y llegaré
yo lo soñé

12- Darle la Vuelta al mundo by Calle 13: This song reminds me of Calle 13's concert. That concert was really fun, also it is one of my favorite memories because it was one of my first dates with someone who became really special for me. Specially this song remind me of that awesome moment. Every time I hear it, I just want to go back to that instant and never return from it.
Dame La Mano
Y Vamos A Darle La Vuelta Al Mundo
Darle La Vuelta Al Mundo
Darle La Vuelta Al Mundo

13-  Antologia by Shakira & Just Give Me a Reason by Pink: These two songs describe a difficult time during my college life, my last breakup. These two songs made me cry my eyes out the firsts days, but, now, I love hearing them because they remind me what I did. They are a proof for me that even in the hardest time ( or what I though were the hardest time), I'm able to stand up and keep walking, day by day, and move on.
Just Give Me a Reason:
Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them

Antologia by Shakira:
pero olvidaste una final
instruccion porque aun
no se como vivir sin tu amor
y descubri lo que
significa una rosa
me ensenaste decir
mentiras piadosas
para poder a verte
a horas no adecuadas
y a reemplazar palabras
por miradas
y fue por ti que escribi mas
de 100 canciones
y hasta perdone tus
equivocaciones
y conoci mas de mil formas de besar
y fue por ti que descubri
lo que es amar
lo que es amar...

14- Princesa by Tommy Torres: This song is really meaningful to me. It was dedicated to me by one of my best friends during Tommy's concert, right after my breakup. At the moment, I didn't think that I will remember it, but each time that I get desperate because I still miss some persons ( that I shouldn't be missing), I hear it and instantly calm myself.
Ya no mas corazón
Se que duele tanto tanto
Cuando en el alma muere una ilusión
Muere una ilusión
Yo te doy mi palabra
Que afuera ya salio el sol

15- Stop by Spice Girls: Last but no least the Spice Girls for my  happy ending. After having depressed you guys a little bit with my last songs, I want to show you the best happy song in the whole world. This song is a classic during my car rides. I think it's amazing because almost every girl on the planet knows it, so when people gets in my car, and I put this amazing song, they always begin to sing along, and it just creates these amazing positive vibes that I love.
Stop right now, thank you very much,
I need somebody with the human touch,
Hey you always on the run,
Gotta slow if down baby, gotta have some fun,
Do do ... always be together,
Ba da ... stay that way forever.

Hope you enjoy my songs as I enjoy and love every single one of them <3<3

Recently, we read about a fun classification of our UPR men written by a UPR girl. I had a lot of fun reading it because I thought it was really accurate in almost every faculty. I would only change the description of the ''Homo papelonus", men from Copu, stating that  almost all of them are completely gay. I might add that in Educacion, we can find some men, usually athletes studying to become physical education teachers. Following the cool author's way to describe men, I will call them "Homo fortus", because of their huge strong muscles.
Thinking about her article, I decided to talk about what I know, my everyday surrounding, my faculty, Ciencias Naturales. I decided to assign a general image to each men of each concentration, following Ms. Thurin article's idea.
 - Biology: All of them want to become doctors. When we were in High School, there were two types of people: cool and not so cool. In my beloved Biology classmates, you can easily spot these two types of men:
1- "Le Cools": You see them often playing in classrooms between them and bothering girls, just like high school.     Between classes, you can see them sitting in front of our library drinking coffee and yelling about their last trip to Europe, or their weekends on his dad's boat in Palomino.
2-  "Le Not So Cool": You can see them in any of the twenty one libraries around the campus. If you are a girl, you will easily spot them because they will ignore you, don't feel bad about it, their sexual hormones aren't fully developed and, sadly, that's not the only part that hasn't reached puberty yet. Their conversations are really awesome and interesting, speaking all the time about MCAT, GPA, Med School, etc. (told you they were fun!)
- Chemistry: Enemies of the Biology men. Usually study a lot harder than other men from our faculty, and believe that Chemistry is harder and more important than Biology. You can see them speed walking with their lab coats, carrying tons of books, and a cup of coffee 24/7 bragging about their last  internship and  worrying about the next one.
- Computer Science: Usually found in Naturales' lobby, better known as "El sapo". This men are often sitting in front of their laptops, most likely playing games, surrounded by a few girls, also gamers.
- Physics and Mathematics: In comparison with men from Biology and Chemistry, these men are almost zero, non-existent. You don't see them very often, but in General Physics and Calculus, you can easily spot one or two because they are the only ones  happily answering and paying attention. Physics and Math men see themselves as "le top" in the intelligence pyramid of Naturales.
- Interdisciplinary Study: "Biologists Wannabes". At the beggining of the semester, you can often see them in the Biology department, trying to steal courses from the Biology men, and never hear from them until the next Course Selection. Almost invisible, they can be easily confused with any of the other types of Naturales men, most likely with Biologists.
- Environmental Science: Men from this concentration can easily be mistaken with ""Homo Trafala", men from Humanidades. You can often find them in "El sapo" during some activity of their Environmental Club, but usually not inside a classroom. These men are very good making you feel guilty about drinking water from a bottle.

Hope you truly enjoy it because I'm pretty sure this article will assure me the end of dating Naturales men until I graduate :).

Ricardo Arjona

Since I was a little girl, my dad used to put his songs on the radio, and sing a lot to it, not well I might add. I grew up listening to him, but it was in high school when I became a truly fan of him. I began to listen to all his songs, understanding their lyrics and falling in love with them, every time I listened. I listened to his songs when I go to the gym, and during my car rides. His songs make me feel relax, and happy. Almost every one of them reminds me of a single event of my life. I absolutely love the way he uses to describe common events, in such a way that it sounds poetic and just amazing. Also, I enjoy, some of the songs he uses to describe our society’s problems, trying to make a difference. I had the amazing to opportunity to go to his two last concerts last year. Those were some of the best nights of my entire life.

Caramelos de Cianuro

When I was in high school I dated a boy who made me listen to Caramelos de Cianuro, and it was kind of fun. After we stopped dating, I hated their music, but, time passed and one I heard their song “Veronica” on the radio again, and I absolutely loved it! Later on, I began listening to a lot of their songs, and realized how amazing they were.  When I hear their songs, usually on my way to college, I fell excited, happy, and energetic. Their songs make me want to stop my car and just sing very loud and dance crazily. I have never had the opportunity to see them live, but I’m hoping that they will visit our island soon enough, so I can enjoy their presentation. As a Venezuelan band Caramelos de Cianuro, have had a lot of success around America, making thousands of Latin fans feel their vibes and enthusiasm.

Tommy Torres

Some years ago, I remember being on the west side of the Island, with my sister and my cousin singing the first Tommy Torres’ song on the radio, “Como Olvidar”. Tommy Torres has being my favorite romantic singer for a long time. I love listening to his music. His songs make me feel alive and full of love. Every time that I feel a little bit down or that I have some boy trouble I always listen to his songs, just to calm myself. I had the amazing opportunity to see him on his concert for the first time last April, and it was stunning. I still remember that night, and I can relive all the excitement that I felt with my sister and my cousin. I remembered singing so loud that I didn’t had my voice until three days later. As a Puerto Rican artist, his songs and lyrics are known world-wide, but he keeps being the same humble human being.

Usually artists and musicians have a lot of interesting links and pages on the internet for us to keep updated and know about their lives. Here are three of the best pages found on the internet for each of my favorites.

Ricardo Arjona:

·         Official Page: This page is really user friendly plus it has a lot of fun stuff. ·         Official Fan Page: This page includes a lot of forums about the artist’s lyrics. Fans submit their favorite pictures of him, plus sites where you can download his music. It has a link that sends you directly to his Official Fan Page on Facebook.

Caramelos de Cianuro:

·         Official Page: This page is really user friendly plus it has a lot of fun stuff. When entering to the page the first need that you hear is their latest song on the background.  It includes news about the group, their latest music videos, the biography of its members plus its trajectory, and a forum for the fans to communicate with them. It also includes some official pictures of them , his albums covers, and the set dates for their next performances.

·         Twitter Page: His official twitter page includes news about him, presentation updates, and a lot of his most famous quotes.

·         Official Fan Page: This page includes a lot of forums about the group’s lyrics. Fans submit their favorite pictures of them, plus sites where you can download his music.

Tommy Torres:

·         Official Page: His page is really user friendly and it’s so cool. This page includes information about his last CD, his career, plus his personal life. It includes news about him, his latest music videos, plus a forum for the fans. It also includes some official pictures of him and the set dates for their next performances.

·         Instagram Page: His Instagram shows the other side of the artist. He posted a lot of pictures of his family and himself, plus he answers to almost all the fans that talk to him. Also, he posts a lot of pictures of his common days, performances and travels.

·         Official Facebook Page: This page keeps us, the fans, informed about the latest events of his career, the set dates for his shows, videos of his interviews, etc.

My favorites quotes: Ricardo Arjona:

From each of them I have learned some valuable things. From Ricardo Arjona, I learned that there is beauty in everything surrounding us, even in the simplest things of life. From Caramelos de Cianuro, I learned that no matter how difficult you think your day is, with the appropriate song you can forget and dance away all your problems. Finally, from Tommy Torres, I learned, that love is the basis of life, and that everything happens for a reason, even if it hurts a lot, eventually it will be for your best.

With this assignment, we have learned, that little by little, the internet has become the main source of the artist's publicity, keeping them in touch with their fans. Also, artists need to be extremely careful with pictures, comments, etc, because, in the internet, news travel really fast, and a bad publicity can end their career. The illegal downloads of their songs and music videos, has caused a lot of artists a lot of economic troubles, troubles that artists from several decades ago, didn't have.

PictureConfused koala discovers his home is gone.
In the last century, humanity has accomplished a lot of great things. We have evolved into the most advanced species in the world, or that’s what we use as our excuse to destroy everything that surrounds us. We have left hundreds of species without a home, without food, or simply without companionship. We have killed them because of their fur, horns, teeth, etc. We use hunting as a killing game, a “cool” way of having fun. Humanity believes that expanding its territory and acquiring new knowledge means that we own every living creature in this world, and that’s the basis of our problem. As humans become more powerful, we tend to forget the importance of having respect towards all living things, beginning with animals. Animals, do not speak our language, but it does not mean that we cannot understand each other. All animals feel, suffer, and have necessities, same as we do.
I love animals with all my heart. Since I was a little girl I would fall in love every time I saw a cute puppy, a little rabbit, or a fish. I’m pretty sure that my goal in this world is to make a huge difference while taking care of animals. When I found out about this assignment, one of my best friends told me: “That should be pretty easy for you”, and she was right, because I have always dreamed about making this organization a reality. I know that there are a lot of organizations that look out for animals, but mine will be pretty awesome and special, because I will take care of animals personally, and people will listen to me, because more than an image, I will be an action. My organization’s main goal is to improve quality life of as many animals as possible. In my organization, I would love to help homeless cats and dogs. This goal will be approached in several ways:
In my beloved island of Puerto Rico, I will gather a group of veterinarians able to volunteer to help finding new homes for all the cats and dogs who lives on our streets. I will organize a public campaign in which veterinarians will operate on animals as needed, giving them free treatment for all possible diseases. I will construct a huge shelter where all dogs and cats can be taken care of, beside my hospital, where I can keep them healthy, giving them free treatment as needed. At the same time, I will help to save endangered exotic species, internationally. I will offer free consults and treatments to animals in zoos. My organization will make sure that every captive animal has all their basic necessities fulfilled.     My organization’s vision will be that every living creature on this planet deserve the opportunity to have a home, to have food, and more importantly, to feel loved and respected.
